Slow Roof Leak Leads to Mold

Some roof leaks are obvious - a wet spot appears on a wall or ceiling, or a puddle appears on the floor. However, some roof leaks are smaller and more gradual and have less obvious signs. In the case of this  homeowner, a small, steady leak over the course of several months (or years!) resulted in a significant mold issue. In order to remove mold that had found it's home in the drywall behind cabinets, everything had to be removed down to the concrete block encasing a fireplace on the opposite wall.

In the before picture you can notice some markings on the wall. These are moisture tests done by SERVPRO of Paducah to determine the source and severity of the leak. If you suspect a leak in your roof, call SERVPRO of Paducah to test for moisture in your home. (270) 443-4555
